The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) is also known as the Uttarakhand Vidhyalayee Shiksha Parishad and has its headquarters at Ramnagar (Nainital). Nearly 3 lakh students appear for the Uttarakhand High School (Class 10) and the Uttarakhand Intermediate (Class 12) Examinations each year for which the Uttarakhand Board Results are announced in May-end from Ramnagar. There are over 17,000 Government Schools in the 13 districts of Uttarakhand which are affiliated to the UBSE.

In 2018, a total of 2,81,857 students registered for the High School (Class 10) and Inter (Class 12) Examinations. The Board setup a total of 1309 examination centres, out of which, 230 centres have been identified as 'sensitive'. A majority of such centres are located in the Nainital, Chamoli and Haridwar districts.
